A LL A B O U T COLOR
ROOMS IN
BLOOM
Growing up in
Massachusetts, Los
Angeles designer
Sasha Emerson
came to love pink.
“You knew summer
had arrived when
the peonies
bloomed,” she says.
■ New again
“Pinks are not your
grandmother’s
colors anymore,”
Sasha says. “In my
design work, I use
pink to evoke a
mood that’s playful,
exuberant, and
comforting.”
■ Punch it up
Enliven a small
space such as a
powder room or
library with dark
pink, Sasha
suggests. “Richer,
deeper colors can
make a large room
seem small but
don’t be afraid of
going darker in a
tight space.”
■ Soft side
Sasha
uses peony-colored
fabrics as window
treatments and seat
cushions. “I think
of pink as an all-
purpose color.” (£D
